The upgrade of auto-guiding system of the Lijiang 2.4 m telescope requires to develop the new auto-guiding system software. Referred to the original auto-guiding system software, we developed the new auto-guiding system software on the Linux system by taking advantage of open source libraries of Wxwidgets and OpenCV. The system fetches image data from the FITS files or CCD devices, and then automatically analyzes the data to tune the threshold value and searches stellar images profile. At last the system estimates the real position of the stellar images by the method of Gaussian fitting. The software is designed to query the GSC2.3 catalog data, with the required target coordinates, magnitude limit, sky-area zone and waveband. Also the data is represented as an image in the software. Now the work of establishing software development platform of the auto-guiding system and the work of algorithms debugging are almost complete. Also we debugged the hardware interfaces of SBIG CCD camera etc. In this paper, we introduce the auto-guiding algorithms and the software development technology in the development process of the auto-guiding system software. The auto-guiding algorithms includes, the stellar images recognition algorithm in CCD images of machine vision, the centering method of Gaussian fitting of stellar images and the parameters such as the sky brightness tuning method, which required for fitting. There is a detailed description of the design of the auto-guiding system software and the development of open source software.
