摘要 | The New Vacuum Solar Telescope (NVST) is a 1-meter vacuum solar telescope aiming to observe the fine structures on the Sun. It produces several terabytes of huge unreduced solar data in a day, and we reconstruct these data in near real-time using speckle masking algorithm on a cluster with Message Passing Interface (MPI). However, much time was devoted to reconstructing solar subimages in such a speckle reconstruction. We design and implement a new parallel method for speckle masking reconstruction of solar subimage on General Purpose Graphics Processing Units (GPGPU). We transfer the main time-consuming program of subimage reconstruction into GPGPU with Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) developed by NVIDIA. The real tests are performed to validate the correctness of our codes on NVIDIA Tesla C2050. We describe parallel implementation details for several steps of solar subimage reconstruction, and realize significant improvements in the runtime of several steps. The performance speedup comparison of the single thread CPU and CUDA-based implementation is illustrated with different sizes of raw data, and a significant speedup of around 4-6 is achieved to reconstruct one solar subimage of 256×256 pixels. The new parallel method would be valuable and ported to a high performance GPU cluster, and contribute to the real-time reconstruction of an entire solar image. |
